Paddling along the cliffs on the northern shore of Anstruther Lake, as you turn a corner you see a single elongated rock balanced on its end looking like an ancient column or monolith. Inspired by the sharp edges and the water level lines on the rocks, I painted the sky and water in a similar style with geometric shapes and bold solid colours.
